Come and explore the back roads from Canterbury to Central Otago visiting historic sheep stations and meeting the gardeners. From Aoraki/Mt Cook we head down the Waitaki Valley to Danseys Pass following the old route taken by stockmen and miners over to the Maniototo and the goldfields.
What Tracy loves about this tour:
Some farms we’re visiting have stayed in the same family with buildings and gardens dating back to the pioneers. At Erewhon Erin and Colin are passionate about horses and their magnificent Clydesdales plough the fields at the foot of the Southern Alps.
7 day / 6 night tour departing Auckland with stays in Mt Somers, Geraldine, Mt Cook, Ranfurly and Lawrence.
A very enjoyable tour with a nice variety of places to visit. The unexpected snow dumping was a big plus for we Aucklanders and added to the experience and the scenery. Matt gives interesting commentaries about the towns/districts or other features as we drive along and also has the knack of establishing a good rapport with the host/hostesses of the places we visit.
High Country Stations, Gardens and Goldfields
I haven't travelled much recently so didn't know what to expect but our guide Matt was amazing, I loved the variety of meals and the places we ate at and the accommodation was really good. I loved the variety. My favourite place was Erewhon Station & the Clydesdales and the history of all the places we visited. Matt's knowledge of the history of all the areas was great.
