This is our news stream with the latest travel information and updates for domestic travellers on our MoaTours Small Group Escapes for 2020 and beyond.

9 June 2020 - All domestic travel restrictions lifted

As of today New Zealand has moved to Level 1 on our national Covid-19 alert system which means there are no longer any restrictions on domestic travel, events, gatherings, restaurants and retail. This is great news for us and our guests as we can now look forward to a busy and fun domestic travel season in the upcoming months. Our first tours are scheduled for October, see the full list of departures here.

2 June 2020 - No deposit required for bookings until 1 Aug

We are taking bookings on our 2020/2021 tours and no deposit is required to secure a spot on any of our tours for next season, for new bookings made by 1 Aug 2020. We will continue to review this again based on the latest New Zealand Government travel advice.

25 May 2020 - We are taking bookings for the coming 2020/21 season

With the easing of travel restrictions and restarting of domestic flights around the country we are taking bookings for our small group escapes for the coming 2020/21 season.

Our tour season starts in October with our spring garden tours, talk to one of our friendly team now to find out more.

18 May 2020 - Domestic travel is back on

We have now moved to Level 2 in our Covid-19 alert system, which for us here in New Zealand is a very welcome step closer to life as we used to know it. Restaurants, shops and meeting our friends and family is now possible again. The most exciting thing for us is that domestic travel is now possible, with some restrictions, but this is one step closer to us being able to start operating our small group tours again.

We are now all back in the office and remain in contact by phone, email or website 7 days a week.

27 April 2020 - Lockdown ends tonight

As of 11.59 pm tonight New Zealand moves off Level 4 of our Covid-19 Alert system to Level 3. This means that there are some loosening of restrictions and the first step towards us returning to "normal" life.

At Level 3 all the MoaTours team continue to work from home and are available 7 days a week.

3 April 2020 - New Zealand still at Alert Level 4

New Zealand is in a full lockdown, with no domestic travel permitted for anything other than essential services. MoaTours remains open and all staff are working from home.

It’s too soon for us to say how our tours in the 2020/2021 summer season will be affected. However, we want to reassure you that we have the safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff as our first priority.

25 March - Last of our guides home safely

Even though our tours concluded two days ago, we still had Kiwi Guides transitting back to Auckland with vehicles and this afternoon the last of our guides returned home safely.

At NZT 11.59 pm tonight New Zealand moves to Level 4 on our COVID 19 Alert Scale. This is a full nationwide lockdown for at least 4 weeks and as a non essential business our office will be closed but all team members are now working from home and we remain in full contact and communication.

23 March 2020 - Season concludes safely

As of last night all our domestic travellers returned home safely and our 2019/2020 travel season has now concluded. Thanks to all our guests and suppliers for your support and understanding in helping us wrap this season up under difficult circumstances. We look forward to getting back on the road again when we can.

19 March 2020 - Updated booking conditions

In response to the developing Covid 19 pandemic, we have updated our booking policy.

No deposit is required for new bookings on any of our 2020/21 tours made before 1 June 2020. We will review this again on 1 June, based on New Zealand Government travel advice.

See our full booking terms and conditions here.

18 March 2020 - Current tour schedule

Our 2019/20 season is coming to a close and we currently have guests and guides on the road on our Molesworth Station & Golden Bay and Southern Odyssey tours which are continuing as normal. As the Warbirds Over Wanaka Interntational Airshow has been cancelled by the organizers, this tour has been cancelled and all guests have been contacted regarding this.
